taken a Nikon D80 camera to Greece?

the camera can be changed to handle their voltage but the power cord to connect the charger is US 110... have you solved this problem? can you order a Greek Cord here to take with...... thank you for any help....

Karen...a D80! I love that camera. A friend of mine lets me actually touch his from time to time, while I save my pennies! ;) Don't forget though, you're not actually changing the camera's voltage, since it runs off batteries, so the voltage remains the same. I assume you mean their quick charger or AC adapter, and I'm surprised a big company like Nikon would still make accessories like that separately for us on 110 volt. I would suggest you check with your local camera store expert to confirm. If that IS the case, then the purchase of a power converter will switch the voltage from 220-240 to 110...plug it into the wall, then the charger/AC Adapter into the converter. IN either case, you will also need a plug adapter to make sure your power converter fits Greek plugs. Most should be the same 2-pronged rounded plugs used elsewhere in Europe, but they usually come in a set, so bring them all (except the big clunky three-pronged British plug adapter.)

Do some research as you may not need a converter. My charger for an old Konica digital camera works on both voltages - similar to a most laptops. Hence you may only need the plug adapter which are very easy to pick up at airports.

Karen-

I travelled in Spain, Italy and Turkey with my trusty Canon Rebel Xti last summer. I used my standard power cord with an adapter-no converter needed.

I suspect Nikon gear is much the same. Try looking on the Nikon website.

Cheers and Happy travels!

Hi Karen

I'm planning to take a Nikon D200 to Europe in a few weeks. I called 1-800-NIKONUX and the guy said all you need to do is take your battery charger into the nearest Radio Shack and ask the clerk what would work best for the country you're traveling to. I purchased an adaptor for around $11 or so and he said I should be good to go. Hope this helps and have fun in Greece!
