I am planning a trip to Krakow this fall and would like to see the city my grandfather was born in- Szlachtowa. (He believes the closest major city is Szczawnica.) If anyone has ever visited this area, I would greatly appreciate any insight you could give- especially concerning transportation to and from Krakow. Thanks!

There are many direct bus connections from Krakow to Szczawnica. The ride takes about 2 hours and the buse fare should be around $5-8. The buses leave from the main bus station in Krakow.
Szlachtowa is one of the villages that surround Szczawnica. I think that Szlachtowa is not further than 5-10 miles from Szczawnica. There must be some buses or local vans that ride to Szlachtowa from Szczawnica. Just ask at the bus station or talk to the locals.
