We will be arriving about 8:30 into Budapest on my husband's birthday (a Tuesday in April). He would love a good, traditional meal(not too fancy or spendy). Can anyone suggest where they'd go? Also, he's heard about Dobros cake (or something like that). Any suggestions for who makes a great one? We will be staying in Pest.
Not sure what cuisine you are looking for but we had an excellent meal at Toscana. As the name might suggest, it is mostly Italian--I think the chef is Italian but our dishes were fresh fish and very good. Fish was brought to the table for our approval before being prepared. Service was very nice and attentive. It is located on the Pest side of the river. We did not have a reservation if I remember correctly. Several restaurants on the upper end of Andrassy with outside dining looked good but we did not have a chance to try any of those.
We're also celebrating a birthday in Budapest soon! I'm looking forward to the replies in this thread.
I tried the "Secret Budapest" page on Facebook, but there's not much on it now.
