Read somewhere that it is possible to take a submersible in Santorini to see the sunken volcano...has anyone any information on this pleae as we will be visiting later this summer and it would be a highlight for us.
I'm not sure but I think this is an old advertisement. You'll have to contact them to check if they're still in operation but I don't think they are. Please let us know what you find out.
Hi Lee: Couldnt find anything on that website but tracked the submarine to Vlyhada, punched in Vlyhada Submarine Tours and it all came up perfectly. 57 Euro for the one hour tour and you can buy the tickets in Fira...will be a must do for us. Thanks.
If you're referring to this website:

I saw it too. Check at the bottom, it says "2006 prices" which suggests it's no longer a current attraction. You can call the 800# to ask. Please let me know.
This is a wild post to see. One of my parents college friends was Jim Mavor who worked at the Woodshole Oceanographic Institute. He was very involved in the design of the Alvin one of the first deep sea submersibles. In the late 60's they took the Alvin to Santorini and looked for Atlantis. The Greek government actually kicked them out eventually. Jim did write a book on their adventure. I remember see a model of the Alvin in Woodshole in the sixties. It was amazing stuff back then. Now, it's a tourist attraction! Pam
Thanks Pam: One of the great things about these posts is what you learn about places you visit that you might not know otherwise....
For anyone interested, the Santorini submarine tours were cancelled 2 years ago and no-one else is running them....am quite disappointed.
I suspected as much. Don't be too disappointed. The undersea environment around Santorini is not very interesting, mostly algae-covered rocks and seagrasses. Any remaining underwater antiquities are 'off-limits'
