I have some friends who will be taking a river boat cruise that will include St. Petersburg and I would like to meet up with them for a few days while they are there. I need recommendations for a mid-price hotel that is centrally located. I don't think I am the cruising type, yet would like to hang out while they take their day trips in to the city. Thanks.

i stayed at the nevsky inn bed and breakfast last month and really enjoyed it. i used booking.com, which has a great map so that you can see where you're booking. i would stick to as close to winter palace as possible, as there's much to see there. pick up any travel guide and you'll probably find an itinerary for a tour around the winter palace and surrounding buildings/statues/parks of interest.
