Split to Dubrovnik: Boat or Bus?

Has anyone traveled from Split to Dubrovnik? I don't know whether to take the boat or bus. Please help!

I traveled opposite direction, but logistics are similar. There are several daily buses from Split to Dubrovnik and bus is much faster than the ferries. Ferries may not run every day and are slow. Check ferry schedule at www.jadrolinija.hr - 2009 high season schedule not yet posted. Bus is efficient, but I've seen posts saying that the ferry is very scenic.

Bus schedules from Split are available on-line: http://www.ak-split.hr/EN/ I found the Croatian bus stations easy to use in 2006--English spoken, many departures, and cheap. I don't think you'll go wrong with either the ferry or the bus. Good luck!

Kyla says either way. So it depends on whether YOU like to see the coastal towns or the many other towns in the interior.

I traveled that are in a rental car; so I cannot recommend the roads because travel is so slow. But it will be faster than travel by boat. Look at a map and decide what you can see on that trip.

We traveled from Dubrovnik to Split by bus last Sept. We were told that the ferry takes all day. I think it is something like an 8 hour trip.

We took the ferry up from DBV to Split, and stayed 1 night in Korcula and 1 night in Hvar..

I would really recommend a night in Hvar..we were off season and it was just soooooooooooooooo relaxing and beautiful.

The ferry was very comfortable and personally I would built in a couple more hours to do the ferry over the bus...the view was very pretty and you had the freedom to move around.

If you would like to view our photos of Dubrovnik and Split along with the rest of our Croatia/Bosnia and Montenegro trip they are on our personal website. Please check in the bonus albums because I give info on "cheap eats" in both places and you will see souvenir ideas of authentic Croatian crafts....

and as the french say....a la cravate!

Here's our website, just go into Photo gallery and also Where we've been for our trip blog, videos of the area etc.
