Has anyone traveled by bus from Split to Mostar and then on to Dubrovnik in the same day? Are there bus connections that would make this a possibility? I just hate to bus down to Dubrovnik only to "back track" for a day trip a few days later.

I do not think connections would allow you to do that trip in a day, and even Mostar by Daytrip from Dubrovnik is difficult by public bus, most day-trippers take tours. I would just plan on spending a night in Mostar, that is what we did (just in reverse: Dub-Mostar-Split) and it worked great.

You would be best to consider staying over in Mostar. Even if the bus timetables were conducive to the same day, it would just be too rushed.

I have travelled by high speed train from Zagreb to Split and then by bus to Dubrovnik. It's a several hour trip if I recall (albeit a beautiful one). Really can't be done in a day (if you want to see anything) I would spend a few days in Dubrovnik and catch a day trip to Mostar. (or perhaps rent a car)
