Some advice on possible honeymoon itinerary for Croatia

Hello all!
So I'm trying to plan my honeymoon, but I'm afraid I'm packing in too much stuff for 2 weeks in Croatia. My plan is Venice>Istria peninsula via ferry, 2-3 days on the peninsula, drive to Plitvice National Park, stay overnight in some town between Plitvice and Split, drive to Split, stay 2-3 days in Split, ferry to Hvar and Korcula with 1-2 days in each, ferry to Dubrovnik then stay 3-4 days in Dubrovnik before flying home.

Is this possible? I'm not even sure how long it will take to drive around in Croatia. I've heard renting a car there isn't too difficult. Any thoughts, suggestions? Thanks a bunch!

Your Croatia itinerary is doable in 2 weeks. I did a similar trip in 2008, but in the reverse - Dubrovnik to Venice with an overnight in Mostar rather than Plitvice. I'd suggest renting a car for Istria and Plitvice (easy and affordable), dropping it off in Split and using ferries for the rest of the trip (check schedules at www.jadrolinija.hr). Rovinj is a great home base for Istria. At Plitvice, stay at one of the park hotels (I like Hotel Jezero at entrance #2) and eat a meal at Licka Kuca (across road from entrance #1 - wonderful grilled meats and fish). From Split, take the catamaran to Hvar. Catamaran to Korcula must be combined with a bus ride, but slower and less frequent car ferries go right to the main town. Only the slower ferries go from Korcula to Dubrovnik, but there's also daily bus service. In Dubrovnik, consider staying at Jadranka Benussi's rooms in the Pile neighborhhod. Very nice rooms, easy walk into old town and Jadranka is great.

We plan on staying in Venice for 2-3 nights max. I've been there before but never had a chance to see Venice at night. Thanks for all the helpful info, especially about places to stay. Keep the info coming!!

i would cut at least one day from istria and one from split and take the train from venice to ljub slovenia and spend the time in the lake bled area and touring south to istria. between plitvice and split you could visit krka national park.

What time of year are you going? I believe the Venice to Rovinj boat only runs during the summer months; it had stopped by the time we wanted to use it in mid-September.
