Soluna Archeological Ruins, Split, or Trogir

IF you had only a half day & were traveling by car, which one of these would you choose? Why? If Split or Trogir, what sights would you visit?

Hi Jerry, There is probably more to do and see in Split--Diocletian's Palace, for example. Except for that I wasn't taken with Split though I'm sure many will disagree. On the other hand, I thought that Trogir was a pretty smaller city. We spent one night in Trogir and I'd return. Not lots to see there but it's a nice place to relax. We didn't go to Soluna Archeological Ruins.

Rudy Maxa did a travel video about Croatia which included Split and Trogir (made me want to visit both!). If you're interested, you could check your local PBS channel. His website is smarttravels.tv.

Are you saying you're driving enroute to another destination and that you will have only a half day for either Trogir or Split? I'd choose Trogir. The town itself is charming with lots of good restaurants and old architecture. Just park your car and walk over the bridge to Trogir. Diocletian's palace at Split is certainly interesting and unique, but you have to drive through a fairly large, busy, congested modern city and find parking to get to the ruins. We were at both sites off-season and even then the crowds of tour groups in Split were a bit over-whelming.

I want to thank each of you for your reply; they've been most helpful. Since our time is limited, we think we will spend a couple hours or so @ soluna as we drive southward (more inland) & then returning northward (generally taking a more coastal route) from dubrovnik, etc., we think we'll probably make a several hour stop at Trogir on the way frm dubrovnik to our next night an hour or 2 north of Trogir. Thanks again, Jerry
