Solo Eastern Europe trip

I am hoping to take a solo trip in April or May for 7 or 8 nights. I have been to East Germany, Budapest and Prague. I have been mulling over where to go next. I am considering Bucharest, Krakow, West Germany, back to Prague.....Any suggestions? I do prefer cities and also a place where I can do some day trips by train.
Thanks!

Why don't you consider Bucharest and Constanta, maybe south from Bucharest to Stara Zagora. We were at all three this autumn and enjoyed them. I don't know if you are a male Lee or a female Lee, but I'll say, as an older gelgtleman, the women in that part of the world are worth seeing. My wife had to keep jerking my arm and saying, "Come on, Grandpa".

I am not sure where you want to go as you titled your post as a solo eastern European trip and yet you list West Germany which is certainly not in eastern Europe. If you do indeed intend to visit EE, check out RS Eastern Europe Tour for places that his tour visits and it will also have additional information if you click thru to its daily itinerary.

I am concentrating on Eastern Europe but West Germany is also a consideration. Just thought I would add it in case anyone has suggestions.

Sorry to be pedantic but there hasn't been a West Germany since 1990 - or East Germany either.

I sincerely apologize for my faux pas.
Does anyone have any actual suggestions?

Actual suggestions for East Europe....well, I heartily recommend going to Poland. To be sure Krakow (from your list), Warsaw, and go up to the lower Vistula area...Gdansk (Danzig), day trip to Malbork (Marienburg). Can't really say anything about Szczecin (Stettin) and Poznan (Posen) as cities to visit since I was only at the main train station waiting to transfer trains. No problem with taking the train in Poland. I took the trains and one day trip by bus from Torun (Thorn). My suggestions for cities in eastern Germany aside from Berlin: Potsdam, Dresden, Meißen, Rostock, Leipzig, especially if you are a music enthusiast, Magdeburg...all depending on your interests, historical and cultural.

If you want to consider adding some countryside into your trip I would suggest Romania. It is absolutely beautiful and a bit different from many other European locations. I liked Bucharest and Constanta but would not suggest only going to these places. Travel off to Transylvania and see how the people in the country and small villages live. Its easy to drive there and I had a car so I don;t know much about the public transportation. I did drop my car in Timosoara (sp) and then take a train to Budapest, but feel like I would have missed the heart of the country without my car.
Poland is also great and I would go back there again too. I only had a few days but was impressed with the people and the food. Both these locations are a good value compared to others.

I enjoyed Bratislava, Slovakia a lot. You can visit the Devin Castle which isn't too far, take a day trip (one hour by train) to Vienna. Really one of the old west/east borders right there. Bratislava's old city area is nice, and it was fairly cheap.

Thank you for all of your suggestions.
I think I am leaning toward Krakow.
