Sofia to Istanbul

Hi all, trying to plan a trip for next year and just have a few questions.

How much is the Sofia - Istanbul night train?

Where can I book the train - I have searched online and it seems I will have to wait until I get to Sofia, so can I book there, I will only have 24 hours?

Also anyone know how to get to Rila Monestary, tour or by public bus?

Thanks

We will be there next year and have begun planning our trip..

we actually found a flight worked beter

Turkish Airlines departs 7:15pm gets in 830pm...and was about 100 euro.

Try Zig Zag tours they will take you up Rila Monastery
you can google them for their website..

The lonely planet and Time Out books have a lot of info in them.

One other travel resource worth checking out is the In your pocket guides that are free and downloadable from
http://www.inyourpocket.com/bulgaria/city/sofia.html

For cities/countries that have these, I find these the best guides for the local information. They also tell you what the scams are and how to avoid them.

Thanks for the tips. The flight you mentioned was a little more than what I wanted to pay, I have heard the train can be as cheap as 30 euro. Also I will be traveling alone, so unfortunalty zig zag tours wouldn't work as its a little out of my budget.

I do appreciate the link to the in your pocket guide, its got lots of useful informaiton thanks!

You could go by train but I suggest to travel in first class. You need to wait to go to Sofia to buy a ticket for the train. Here is where you could buy tickets from - http://bdz.creato.biz/en/ticketoffices
Also if possible take a tour bus to Rila. Bus drivers on public transportation usually don't speak English.
