Sofia, Bulgaria airtravel advice

Hello, I've never been to Eastern Europe before and am going in Sept. '11. Air traffic from Seattle looks horrendous! Here's my question: British Air (w/20 hour layover in LHR - both ways) is $1200 USD, good deal? I could handle a hotel stay. Condor has 2 stops, Toronto and Vienna but all in one day for $1108 USD and Air France does it all in one day for around $1400 USD via CDG. Am I nuts? LOT air has a competitive rate but I'd have to spend 23 hours in Warsaw, not looking forward to figuring out Polish hotel. Any input/advice greatly appreciated.
PS I read all your topics on my lunch break - you ALL rock!

Actually, Warsaw is great for a one day layover. The old town square has been painstakingly recreated and is a lovely place to visit. Polish hotels are no problem at allplenty of them are online and have English language websites. If you opt for Heathrow, you could stay at the Yotel right in the airport and break up the journey that way. Great showers and flatscreen TVs and a pub about ten feet from the door. What's not to like? Condor has the tightest seat pitch in the industryit rivals Ryan Air, except that instead of an hour long flight you're crammed in for a transAtlantic flight from Seattle. AirFrance from Seattle is a great flight, and you get champagne in economy class. OK that's all the advice I have...
