We plan two nights on each island in early September. Would like recommendations on reasonably priced and nice spots near where the ferries come in, perhaps with a view.

Sally, back in 2006 we stayed at Sobe Depolo on Korcula and loved it (viladepolo@hotmail.com). It is just outside the old city walls with a beautiful view back toward the town and directly across the street from a private beach. It had a balcony overlooking the marina and some shared kitchen facilities. Private bath, though. Hvar is really nice, but we liked Korcula the best. Have a great trip.

A sobe is a rented room in a private home. Breakfast is usually not included. Basically a B & B without the second B.

In Korcula we stayed here: http://www.ikorcula.net/private/044/ Nice apt. inside the walls,It was $50.usd per night (May 2006).Have a look. They also washed a load of laundry for us at no additional cost.
