We are 2 seniors who Will be in Split for 2 or 3 days in mid Sep. and looking for quiet and reasonably priced place to stay, does not have to be in or near the centre.

Well, this is mid-Sept. If you are talking 2013, kinda late to get started. If you are talking a year from now, what have you tried? Google is your friend. We got a very nice place by google "sobe in split".
