Sobe in Split

Has anyone rented sobe or small apartments in Split? Did you use the tourist bureau - upon arrival or in advance? How were the accomodations and were they close to the old town?

I stayed right in Diocletians Palace at Sobe Base. Tina (owner), the room, price, and location were awesome!

I would like to second the above post and say my boyfriend and I just stayed at the Sobe BASE in March and loved it. The location and price (60 Euro/night) were great, and there is even a computer with internet in the room.

Tina's contact info is: http://www.base-rooms.com, the email is mail@base-rooms.com.

Make sure to ask her where to eat breakfast, she pointed us to a nearby cafe where we had the best croissant of our lives. It knocked the socks off anything we had in France!

I stayed in Split in summer 2006. I arranged my sobe with Daluma Travel Agency (the e-mail then was daluma-st@st.t-com.hr) from the US. The room in 2006 (2 beds, kitchenette, bathroom), 2 blocks from palace/port, cost me 45 euros a night, but that was 2 years ago.

Hi Frank,
We rented a room from the tourist bureau in Split when we arrived--it was rather late in the day so our options were limited. I wasn't crazy about the room but we did have a comfortable bed and a bath--just some sort of sewer gas smell that was unpleasant. It was very close to the Old Town and a good price. My husband wasn't as dissatisfied with it as I was--you might have better options if you arrive earlier in the day. This was in October--off season.
