I will be in The Cyclades Islands for over a week in late July. Is there good snorkeling off of Naxos, Santorini, or any other islands? I'm trying to decide whether my daughter (15) or I should bother carrying our own gear over.

It depends what you are used to. The water is crystal clear, and you will see lots of rock formations, sea urchins, and small fish. You will see nothing like what you might see on the reefs in the Caribbean, ie: larger fish, coral, even rays or turtles. I have carried my gear there, but going back, I probably would skip it.

There's almost nothing of interest in the shallows of Sanotirni. What you'll see is algae-covered rocks, seagrasses and the occasional small fish, but nothing tropical or colorful.
