I've read that things are slow in Croatia in early May, but pick up later. I'm planning a week-plus trip (Dubrovnik, Split, maybe Plitvice) - how early in May would be reasonable for things to be fairly open and active?
My husband and I visited Slovenia and Croatia last April. Hotels, public transit, restaurants, and tourist destinations were definitely open and busy. The only problem was reduced schedules for ferry travel to the islands; you can check their schedules online. Considering how hot and sunny it was in April, I'm glad we didn't visit during the summer season.
Bill: You can go to Croatia in early May, it is lovely that time of year. Please, however, change to Trogir rather than Split as it is a major port city. Trogir is a lovely small town, and the Hotel Trogir is the only place to stay, small family run wonderful hotel. I am departing for Dubrovnik on 15 January 08 to live and will be doing some very creative excrusions. May I suggest that you plan at least 5 days in Dubrovnik, it is very special "The Pearl of the Adriatic." Please feel free to contact me with any questions, Hvala (thank you) Carol Cameron Park, CA
