september- greece or croatia?

Hi, my boyfriend and I are trying to plan a nice, relaxing trip for September. We would like to go some place that has very nice beaches and scenery, but not too crowded or touristy, but with some good restaurants around so we don't have to cook. We aren't really into nightclubs, but perhaps some nice bars or pubs too.

We have been looking at Mykonos & Kefalonia in Greece, but we have also heard some good things about Croatia (but not sure where in Croatia is the best). Any suggestions on those places or anywhere else in Europe would be great!

While researching our Greece trip, my impression of Mykonos was that it was a bit of a party island. We chose Naxos instead. We had a really great time on Naxos. It has good beaches, good restaurants, and some very nice sights. The water was a bit chilly, but I've been told that is normal for the Cyclades. Haven't been to Croatia, so I couldn't offer a comparison.
