Can anyone tell me if there's a way to check flight prices often without having to put all one's info in every time? I've heard prices may go down after the new year and want to check especially Lufthansa. Thanks! Juliet
All ticketing websites require departure and arrival airports as well as travel dates to be able to quote airfares. There's one I know of that will do it over a 30 day period but you still have to enter that basic information and you can't book there. You'd have to take what you find to a travel agency or try to book through one of the internet bookers such as orbitz, travelocity, expedia, cheaptickets, etc. http://matrix.itasoftware.com
I know the dates I want to travel and the departure and arrival cities (Denver & Athens, Greece). What I'd like to do is once I put all the info onto Lufthansa's website, isn't there a way that that info can be saved so I can check often without having to take the time to insert all the same info each time? How do the travel agents do it? There must be some way to do that.
No, I don't think there is unless the website you're on remembers for you. I can tell you're frustrated but it's not going to change.
Try Kayak.com. You can set up origin-destination combos to keep track of and it will email you s once a week or more often. I also know that Travelocity used to have this feature where if the fare falls below your price point it will send you an email. Also try Orbitz.com - to see if they have a similar feature. The advantage of sites like Kayak, Orbitz etc is that they show you a lot more flight combos than just the airline website. Edit - I just rechecked Kayak and you can setup your price alerts to email you daily or weekly. I believe these alerts are good for a month or so before they expire though you have the option of renewing them. Interestingly enough one of my alerts that I have is DEN-ATH.
Thanks all, so much, for your replies! I'll try your suggestions, but good to know that it's not easy so I don't keep thinking there's a way to save my info on various sites. Kayak sounds like the best idea and I'll get right on that.
You can put in your dates and times into Orbitz, Expedia, ect, and they will array what the fares are for different airlines-then, if you find a good one, go to them direct.
I sometimes use expedia.co.uk because Airberlin or BMI sometimes pop-up from JFK SFO, or ORD.
