Schedule guidance

I traveled northern Italy last year (milan, lake como, venice, florence, rome and assisi) and would like to see the southern region, primarily amalfi coast. I would like to see some of greece also with this trip. I have 14 days in late May early June; what would you suggest. I will get your greece book and already have the Italy, so if you'll just suggest towns/islands I can find the rest. Also want Santorini. Do I have to fly into Rome to get to southern region of Italy?

You will have a great time. I'm going to be frank, though. Greece and Italy are not as easy to combine as it might appear on a map. It can be expensive, and more importantly, time consuming if you do not fly. That said, maybe you should consider Sicily since you are looking at southern Italy anyways? I would go "open jaws," starting in Rome and taking the train to Naples. Another option would be to fly to Milan and connection fly to Naples. Rent a car there (or train it), drive down the coast and go over to Sicily, spend a few days ,and then fly out of Palermo. 14 days seems like a lot, and it is a good chunk of time, but it is really just enough to see one region well. Something like this might work: Day 1- Leave USA Day 2- Arrive Rome (or Milan) transfer to Naples Day 3- Naples Day 4- Pompeii day trip from Naples Day 5- Train to Amalfi Coast (any number of towns to choose from) Day 6- Amalfi Coast Day 7- Train to Praja (Praia) a Mare, Calabria Day 8- Praija a Mare Day 9- Train to Taormina, Sicily Day 10- Taormina Day 11- Train to Palermo or other city in Sicily Day 12- Sicily Day 13- Sicily
Day 14- Leave for USA Of course, depending on flight schedules, you may have to leave Sicily on day 13 to make connections back to the USA. With this schedule, you have at least two nights in each destination. You could change it up some if you don't want to move around as much. Cut out Sicily completely and you can see Calabria and the Amalfi areas better. PM me for more details, if you like.
