I will be in Santorini for a day and am looking for suggestions on things to do there. I will be arriving via cruise ship in the morning and leaving in the evening.

Nice to hear you have more time than we had for our Santorini port stop. We only had 8am -1pm which if you consider you have to tender in, and be 'all aboard' by 12:30pm leaves only 4 hours max. However we did walk up to Fira, and immediately headed to the Bus station and caught a 9:15am bus to Oia. Caught the 10:55am bus back to Fira and walked back down to the tender dock. Since you have more time than we had, definetly visit Oia first, then take the bus back to Fira, and depending on time, head out to Perrisa for the beach, bus it back to Fira to wander until it's time to head back down to the tender dock. BTW you can take the cable car for 6E, or mules for 5E each way up or down the mountain. Walking is optional.
