First question: My son and I are headed to Greece soon and of course we have to hit up the beaches in Santorini for some swimming, parasailing, etc so I'll need to have some cash and possibly a credit card on me and maybe even a camera or my cell phone. I am wondering if there are lockers to rent somewhere on the beach (like the watersports rental place) or will my son and I have to take turns in the water while one holds the aforementioned items?? Any tips or suggestions are appreciated!
Part 2: I know souvenir shopping has been discussed here before but I'll ask anyway. It's usually pretty easy to shop for the ladies, but for a guy?! Any suggestions for what should I bring back for Dad and my boyfriend? In Germany there were beer steins, Switzerland - swiss army knives, Greece???
Not sure if your Dad and boyfriend are wine drinkers, but if they are...Santorini has excellent vineyards. You can tour them. They're wonderful. As for shopping, I found most things in Santorini a bit kitch. Depending on your budget, they do have superior goldsmiths/jewelers. If all else fails, take a photo of you and your son with a backdrop of the Santorini sunset, get it professionaly framed and...you have the most memorable souvenir you can buy for the cheapest amount of money. Also - hope you're too hyped up on the beaches. This is one island that isn't really known for the beaches. I would head over to Naxos - a one hour ferry ride - to experience some of the best beaches Greece has to offer. Enjoy :)
I agree with Shannon.
Naxos also offers the possibility of less 'touristy' shopping in the port area.
Thanks for the advice! So it's feasable to go to Naxos in the morning, spend most of the day there and go back to Santorini? (I've already booked the hotel in Santorini)
