I will be in Europe in July and I am trying to plan out most of my itinerary. I have stumbled across a problem in getting from vienna, austria down to Dubrovnik in the Dalmatian Coast of Croatia. I have a eurail select pass that covers austria/benelux/germany. i was thinking i would use that to get to sentjil and then buy a point to point ticket to zagreb, and fly from zagreb to dubrovnik. does anyone have a better or more cost efficient route I could look into? also does anyone know about how long this trip would take? thank you!
I'd fly from Vienna straight to Dubrovnik on SkyEurope, which is a low cost carrier. Flights star from €29 one way. Any other way of transportation would be rather cumbersome in that part of Europe.
I agree with Andreas - fly from Vienna (I think SkyEurope actually flies from Bratislava, with a bus from Vienna) to Dubrovnik. Last Sept. we flew with SkyEurope from Budapest to Dubrovnik and took the airport bus to the Dubrovnik town walls. If you fly SkyEurope, like with other low cost carriers, be aware of possible baggage weight restrictions.
