My husband and I will be going to Romania the end Sept. We are flying into Tirgu Mures. Since Rick doesn't do anything on Romania, we could use some help!! We are going to be in Sighisoara for 3 nights. First question, can someone tell me what the best (not necessarily the cheapest) way to get from the airport to Sighisoara is? Second question, can someone recommend an itinerary for those 3 days? Last question, does anyone know of a good private tour guide? We would like to spend one day seeing the country side, castles, etc. Thanks.

Rent a car if you can. Sighisoara is great. 3 days might be a little long there however. Spend 1 day in the old city exploring. Don't eat there. Go about 4 kilos north west towards Medias and eat at a hotel just as you enter the village of Danes. follow this link: http://www.dracul.ro/en/hotel_pensiune.php Hanul Dracula. Some of the best food in Romania. Also a nice place to stay and it's cheaper than the so-so hotels in the city. If you want to really see the country side, you can arrange to take rides via horse back from the hotel. They have fully functional stables. From Sighisoara you can explore the fortified churches spread all through the surrounding villages. In the main old square of Sighisoara, there is a coffee house run by Americans. Go inquire about a map showing where the fortified churches are.
