My rental car agreement does not allow travel to Bosnia Herzegovina. I noticed that the drive from Split to Dubrovnic crosses a very short distance through that country. Has anyone had any issues with that? Is there a border crossing for papers and such? Sometimes it is easier not to read the contract!!
For what it's worth, I don't know how anyone renting a car to drive down the Croatian coastline can get around it..it's a zany little teeny sliver at Neum you'd be driving through. Ask your car company if this little piece is exempt - otherwise I think everyone renting a car and going your way would have this issue. I took a bus so no problems.
Yes, there are a few border crossings. Yes, they want to see papers. We decided to hire a guide, have never done that before. We were going in the opposite directions, but our goal was to learn and see all we could and get from Dubrovnik to Split via Mostar. But, you can reverse what we did. Dubrovnik to Medjagori, then Ston, then on to Mostar in Bosnia and then to Split. We had an awesome guide and had a fantastic time. Worth every single euro. 300 US dollars for 2 people, for 9 hours.
