We have a day and a half in Korcula in the beginning of August. Do we need a rental car to get around to the various beaches? Should we take a bus? mopeds? walk? Any advice? We are traveling with an 11 and 13 year old.

I can't imagine the need to rent a car there. It is not that big.(but is a very nice place and you will enjoy it)

We were there in September, 2008. We used a bus to get to a very nice beach. Great scenery along the way. Check on schedules because I think they ran every half hour. Bus terminal is an easy walk from the main part of the old town. There are places to swim right off the old town (a pebbly rather than sand beach as I remember) and it is easy to walk to all the sights in the old town.
