I was supposed to be in Turkey for a 9 day trip that got canceled due to the Icelandic volcano ash. I had booked a package tour with a travel agency by paying them a deposit of 300 euros. I have not been able to get an answer from the agency yet regarding a refund. Should I assume that this money is gone or should I fight for it. Does anyone have any experience with getting their deposit back when nature causes plans to be canceled.

The volcano is no where near Turkey but my flight was scheduled to go via Europe. In any case, the trip is canceled and I will get the flight refund from the airlines. My ques was about refund from a travel agency and if anyone had any experience with getting such refunds for canceled trips - also canceled for natural causes and not because of a whim.
