Recommendations for Nafplio and Patras in Greece

My sister and I are going to Greece on the 1st of September. We plan to drive from Athens to Nafplio for the first night and then head, the next day, to a resort where we are already booked and which is 45 minutes from Kalamata airport. Then we plan to drive from that resort to Patras and take a ferry to Lefkada for a week of sailing. Can anyone tell us good places to stay in Nafplio or Patras? We are moderately spoiled in that we want a/c and don't like to have to carry our bags up a lot of steps. We also like it to be quiet at night - or at least reasonably so. We are full of questions about this trip so welcome any other insight you can provide. Thanks!

Kay,
I have stayed at Olympic Star in Patras and found it to be quite nice. The rooms were recently renovated and each room had a computer with free internet. This hotel also had an elevator and a/c, so no need to worry here. In Nafplio I have stayed at Pension Omorfi Poli. This is more of a boutique hotel where each room is unique with their own bathrooms and a/c. Others may have similar hotel recommendations for Nafplio. Have a great trip!

Just returned last week from Nafplio and stayed at the Aetoma, rec by someone here. It was fabulous. Central location and the most amazing breakfast. Reasonable price and helpful staff. Very small and wonderful.

kay, I would also HIGHLY recommend Hotel Marianna in Nafplio!!! I can't recall if the rooms had A/C, but the room I was in was somewhat like a "cave" so I had NO issues at all with heat. Although it does have a lot of steps, that's really no problem as the brothers that own the place will take the bags to your room. The view from the breakfast patio is incredible, especially while sipping some of the freshly-squeezed juice they serve. I REALLY enjoyed my stay there last year. Happy travels!

I have been to Nafplio 5 or 6 times and actually am a designated Destination Expert for that place on another forum. Just BTW, difficult to find accommodation in Nafplio (or indeed in most places in Greece these days) that does NOT have a/c. It's like asking for lodgings with pvt bath - today anything WITHOUT pvt bathroom is a rarity. Marianna can be nice if you get the right room. You might also look at Hotel Leto, also high up looking down on town & bay, ALL its rooms have that view 99% with balconies. You walk up 1 flight, but staff brings your bag up. Blissfully quiet at night, lovely little breakfast terrace. Parking by hotel.
