Recommendations for hotel in Athens

My husband and I will be in Athens for a couple of nights in middle May and would like to book a hotel before we leave on our trip in April. I've looked on hotels.com and tripadvisor.com for moderately priced hotels within the city center. I'm not having much luck locating places that don't have some really bad reviews (in our price range).

We were hoping to find something for around $120 per night (or less). Is this realistic in Athens?

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

The Attalos is good, but slightly over your price range. Take a look at

Less central but still fine is the Amaryllis which is quite a bit cheaper than the Attalos

I'd be happy to stay in both, although if it was my first time in Athens (and the budget would run to it) I'd go for the Attalos.

I'm happy to tell you more about both if you send me a private message.

Cheers
Alan

When we were in Athens in September 2007, most decent hotels were on the pricey side. You might need to increase your budget a bit.

Thanks for mentioning the Attalos Alan. I had considered that hotel earlier, but was hoping to find a good hotel in the 80-85 euro range.

After much research, this is NOT happening, so we booked with Attalos...and it's not that much more. I also have seen their name in other travel related publications.

Thanks again.

Your welcome. I'm sure you won't be disappointed with the Attalos. It's in a nice position, the staff are helpful, and the roof garden has great views of the Acropolis.

In fact I like it so much I'll be there myself for a couple of nights in three weeks time!
