Has anyone ever used BYZAS Tours in Istanbul or Izmir? I would like to know any pros or cons with this company.
Hi
I am Gy from izmir Turkey.
If you inform me about what kind of tours and interest you have I can inform you about suitable ones.
Haven’t used them, but if you want to contact a reputable company with contacts throughout Turkey, consider SRM Travel. They’re the Turkish company associated with Rick Steves tours. Check out www.srmtravel.com.
Just returned from Turkey and used BYZAS tours. We were very happy with the tour guide Burak in Izmir but had a couple of issues with Gurkan, the tour guide and part owner of BYZAS in Istanbul. He took us to a rug store who is his friend on the premise that we would learn good information about Turkish rugs and it turned out to be high pressure sales. We were 9 people and a couple of us were led to a room on the 2nd floor. The rest of us were ushered by Gurkan to the Grand Bazaar however he never informed the people on the 2nd floor that he was doing this and when we came down the rest of the group was gone. We asked someone how to get to the Grand Bazaar. It was only a short walk down the same street. As we entered we bumped into Gurkan who said that he was returning to get us however we were frantic thinking that it would be impossible to find the rest of the group. This was disappointing.
We just returned from Turkey last week. With some research we did Istanbul on our own but we did use Ekol Travel in Ephesus. They were fantastic and I would highly recommend them for either Istanbul or Ephesus. Our guide's name was Ali and he started talking with tons of information about the country the moment we met him and didn't stop for 7 hours. We told them that we were not interested in any rug dealers and he respected our wishes. Have fun!
