Private Tour Guide for Peloponnese Peninsula

I will be traveling with a group of 7 adults to the Peloponnese Peninsula May 15 - 18, 2011 and would like suggestions for private tour companies who could help me plan our time in the area and tour us in a minibus. Does anyone have names of companies or individuals to use? I have attempted to contact the son of George the Taxi Driver but have not been able to communicate with him via email - I wonder if we may be having problems with emails coming in as spam. Any suggestions for private individuals/groups to use and/or places to visit would be great. We are a group of older couples who like visiting some ancient sites but really enjoy good views, food and wine! Thanks for your help!

Emily, With only three days, you won't be able to see much of the Pelopponese in that short time. With sights are you most interested in seeing? You might find some good information on Matt Barrett's Greece Website. Your best bet to find a firm that can provide the type of tour you're interested in for a group that size, would be to contact one of the Greek Travel Agencies on the website. I used Fantasy Travel for part of my travel arrangements in Greece this year, and was very pleased with the service. The interest in travel in Greece tends to be a bit "low" at this time of year, so "son of George" may be taking a holiday at the moment, which could explain why you haven't received a reply to your E-mail. Good luck and Happy Travels!

Emily, George is not for you; the publicity is misleading. He is not really a driver any more, he has a fleet of drivers who all say they are his son, cousin, whatever. They are really hired chauffeurs, not guides. I get the idea that you also want someone to take u around IN a site (ruin, museum) and explain. A driver is not permitted to do so only a licensed guide, so a "george" type would disappoint you. You need to contact an outfit using licensed guides, like this one: http://www.toursbylocals.com/Peloponnese-Tours?gclid=CP2H3e2P9KYCFVln5QodSVpPBw reputable & able to plan your trip. it looks as if their Pelops guides do tours on a 1-day basis. http://www.toursbylocals.com/about has a link; contact them with your specific needs, and see what it would cost. They might be able to book a minibus w driver who would also know food/wine/restaurants.. To get all the things you want will not be inexpensive; remember u would be taking the time of the guide for 3 workdays, and the driver for 3 24-hour days. BUt I expect you are prepared for that.
