Prague vs Munich with 18yr old

We are building our son's graduation trip at the end of June. We will be traveling a total of 3 1/2 weeks. The latter half of the trip is coming together but we are having difficulty with where we want to fly into Europe. We have about 4 days before we meet up with family in Croatia via an inter Europe flight from wherever we are to Split. After Croatia we will visit Venice, Rome and do a 7 night Sicily/Greece/Turkey cruise. Right now I'm looking at flying into either Munich or Prague. Our son plans to go to school for Architecture. Munich seems to offer some great countryside, castles, etc. The city of Prague looks more picturesque and may appeal to our son's architectural nature. Would love any suggestions.

Munich has good architecture, however Prague's architecture is even better. Both are very interesting and lively cities for young people. Sounds like the rest of your trip could be a trip of a lifetime. Have a great time! If at all possible, try to go as early in June as possible. Europe can be hot, but Italy gets really hot in the summer. Some Italian cities limit hours on air conditioning their HVAC is not up to U.S. standards.

I answered your question in your other posting under To the West.

We spent a month in Europe a couple years ago. Prague is a wonderful place to visit. It has a lot to look see, good food, fun place to visit. Take a walking tour. It was wonderful. I can even give you a good hotel. It is in old town and your son will love the look. Hotel Sax. You can look it up on line. Enjoy.

Debbie That is quite a visit! For your son's benefit, I suggest you visit Florence and maybe Sienna. As he will explain, Florence represents the birth of the Renaissance, and Sienna, il Campo may be one of the world's most fascinating open spaces. Most architects dream of visiting either one of these cities, many do (I'm happy to say my son-in-law and Iboth architectshave done so), but most don't. You'll virtually be right there if you're already planning to be visiting Venice and Rome. Munich and Prague are both great cities (my wife and I are re-visiting Munich and Prague for the first time this spring), but of the 6 previous visits we've made to Europe and having seen many world landmarks, the Florence Duomo and Baptistry were the most marvelous because of the history both represent. While you're there visit the Uffizi and Academia. As wonderful as they are, consider saving Munich and Prague for another visit.

Jon's right about visiting Florence, as you'll be going thru the city on the train to Rome. It's worth all the time you have extra to see the city, the art and the architecture.

Thanks Jon & David Yes I've been looking at Florence. We have some days between Venice and when the cruise leaves and Florence would be easy to do.
