My wife and I will be in Prague for three days in November and wondered about getting a private tour guide for at least one of the days. I know about Rick's recommended guides from the book, but does anyone else have any recommendations or good experiences to share? Thanks!

We used Jana Hronkova last year and will use her again when we go in two weeks. I found her in the Rick Steves books and we thought she was wonderful. We are looking forward so much to seeing her again. She can be reached at [email protected].

We used one of the names in Rick's book and she sent Helena. She was great. Asked what we had see, what our interests were and took us by metro, tram and walking to a variety that interested us. She was excellent. Sorry I cannot remember the name of teh agency, but she had a website and was in the book.

We also used Jana Hronkova. She was spectacular, very down to earth, communicative, and really knows her stuff. She was the highlight of our trip. Being with her was like walking around Prague with a friend. I highly recommend her as a guide, and I have recommended her to several other folks.

We ended up using Jana and she was fabulous. She spent two days with us, and it was so nice having our own personal guide while in Prague. Definitely worth the investment. We'd use her again in a heartbeat.

I believe we paid about $30/hr at the time. Not sure how the exchange rates are today, but that was still a very good deal for a private tour guide for two people. You can email Jana and tell her what you're interested in and she'll let you know her availability and pricing. She met us at our hotel and spent about 4 hours each day with us as my wife was expecting so we didn't want to go too long. However, Jana can also do full day tours. Andrew

My husband and I just returned from Prague and had the opportunity to use Jana Hronkova as our guide for two mornings. She was delightful and guided us through The Castle Quarter the first day and then the Jewish Quarter and Old Town the second day. Jana is very articulate with a good command of English. She shared so many interesting historical facts which brought the city to life. We would strongly recommend engaging Jana to give you a comprehensive picture of Prague. Leaving her to catch our tram was like leaving an old friend. You will not be disappointed.

My family and I just spent a day with Jana in Prague and had a wonderful experience. She's very knowledgable, very warm and friendly and conversational. My 26-year old daughter liked Jana as much as her parents. Highly recommend her!
