We will be in Prague next week and have tickets to the symphony and opera. Regarding attire, I know Rick says we will be okay with a nice pair of pants and a sweater but what will most of the locals (men and women)be wearing. I do not mind packing formal attire or a coat and tie if that is more mainstream. Advise?

Traditionally most locals indeed wear suit and tie (men), women wear dress but as Rick Steves says it's not necessary.

Depends on which ensemble is performing. If you're going to see the big league orchestra (I can't remember if its the Prague Philharmonic or the Czech Philharmonic), either a tie and jacket or sweater and slacks will be fine. If you're going to see one of the lesser ensembles, you might be overdressed in a tie.
