Prague hotel recommendations

Hello,

Can you please recommend affordable hotels (50-70 euros) that are in a central location?

Thank you,

When are you planning to visit ? The price of hotel rooms in Prague differs a great deal depending on what time of year you want to visit.

To be perfectly honest I've never found a good hotel room in Praha 1 or Praha 2 that was below EUR70.00

Usually I pay around CZK2,000.00 a night for a double room. A rough conversion turns that into about EUR85.00 or USD130.00.

I'm not that sharp on getting a good deal on a room so there must be some savvy travellers out there who can guide you to where there are good rooms for under EUR70.00 a night in central Prague - I honestly don't know of any.

You'll have to define "central" a little better, because many of the main tourist sites are spread across three different sections of town. But, at 50-70 euro, you'll be scraping the very bottom of the barrel, if you can find anything at all.

Dinara,

We just returned from Prague and stayed in the Lida Guesthouse. This may not sound like it is central, but it is only an easy 10 minute subway or 15 minute tram ride with another 10 minute walk home. All very safe and actually a great transition from the city. We found the Lida to be a wonderful place to stay-very reasonable, great breakfast, and best of all, the family that runs it are totally there to help you enjoy Prague. They also recommended restaurants that were affordable, packed with locals (that spoke English when taking orders for dinner), and were great restaurants (under $30 for dinner with beer or wine). I cannot, after 3 trips to Europe, recommend a more helpful or reasonable place to stay anywhere.

I have found advance-booking unnecessary in Prag. Try "Ave" travel. They have room-finding service in the main train station central-hall and also in the arrival area, among the rental car companies, at the main airport. Just tell them a low nightly amount you want to spend and they will book the room/hotel for you. There websites www.praguehotellocater.com and www.ave.info/index-en.html

Miss Sophie's Hostel comes highly recommended by other travellers.E 70/80.
Also Platan Pension in Old Town. I have actually booked there for my visit to Prague in Sept. Rates are around E 40/50

I stayed at Miss Sophie's Hostel about two years ago. It was fantastic, felt like a hotel and had reasonable prices. The bathrooms were really nice, too. It was a short walk to the main square and nearby public transportation.

We are renting an apartment for 70 euros a night (5 nights) in the Old Town. If I were you, I would check out some of the apartment renting websites.

Guesthouse Lida is definately a great place to say just like some others have said. Good value, nice neighborhood, and very friendly owners.

I agree with Molly. Guest House Lida is one of the nicest accomodations we have ever had. The family who runs it couldn't have been more helpful. It is clean and serves a great breakfast. Plus, the free internet is so handy for the traveler away from home. I recommended it to a single friend, and she was very pleased.
