Any recommendations for lodging in Prague, 2 nights, mid December?

Hi Patty,

A search of this site will give you some good ideas. We liked Guest House Lida--it's a little out of the city center but near a tram line. Nice inexpensive restaurants in the neighborhood and very helpful hosts.

Patty, we just returned from Prague and stayed at the Hotel Central on Rybna Street, a good location on a quiet street about three blocks off the Old Town Square and near the Namesti Republiky Metro and tram stops. We had a very nice large room with a balcony, a big, modern bathroom and shower and a great breakfast included for €95(about 2460 Koruna) per night; it will probably be less in December, except perhaps around Christmas. The staff were friendly and helpful and there are good, off the tourist trail restaurants nearby. I highly recommend it.

We were there in Sept. 08 and stayed at the Hotel Hastal (listed in Rick's book) and it was great. Very friendly people, nice room, quiet, and close walk to everything. We booked on line without any problems'

We stayed at the Cloister Inn - about a 10 minute walk from the square. Good breakfast - the room had a sitting room and a bedroom which was great for us b/c we were with our 10 year old.

Check out the Castle Steps in Mala Strana (castlesteps.com). It's a wonderful place, conveniently located, includes breakfast and is serviced by a friendly English-speaking staff. We highly recommend it.

We very much liked the House at the Big Boot (Dum u velke boty), quiet, clean, unique,a couple of blocks away from the Charles Bridge on the castle side. We walked or took a tram from there (except with arrival and departure), and the owners were helpful with absolutely everything. We also spent one night at an Ibis on our return to Prague, and the area was so congested we realized how pleasantly the calm Big Boot affected our favorable view of Prague. Jacub and Jan are excellent hosts.

I also like the Guest House Lida - extremely nice owners, comfortable rooms, internet access, great & filling breakfast, etc. Very easy to reach the city center via the metro or the tram.

This past Summer hotel prices were VERY soft and even negotiable. Maybe they still are...you could try.
