Prague Hotel Maximillian vs Dum u velke boty

I will be in Prague for the Christmas holiday. I am torn between the two hotels. Hotel Maximillian is right in the Old Town and convnient but I really like Dum u velke boty for it's homey atmosphere. Any suggestion? Sandra

Hi Sandra M. I stayed at the Maximillian Hotel five nights in July. Nice quiet room with a safe, terrific breakfast, free internet access. I don't know your other hotel. There is a very Czech, interesting and inexpensive restaurant called "Local" just to your right at the end of the street as you exit the hotel (hugh non-smoking area). You are less than a ten minute walk to "The Clock". If you intend to use a taxi, I would suggest that you have the desk personnel call you a "City Taxi" rather than using their "fee" fleet. Praha, fun!

Ok, so I've never stayed in either hotel, but... based on location I would personally be more inclined to staying at the Hotel Maximillian. I say this because in the couple of times I've been to Prague, I generally find myself spending more time on the Old/New Town side. And since you will be there around Christmas, the weather might be iffy and I'd personally rather be able to pop into the hotel if needed during the day to dry off, warm up, and/or change clothes. Well, that and it's less hilly. :)

Sandra, Dum u velke boty is a charmer. And, Jan has earned every bit of the #2 ranking in Trip Advisor! We enjoyed three nights in 2009 and I'm certain that you will too.

I stayed at the Dum u velke boty and it really is very special. I stayed there for week on the RS Prague tour. The owners are very nice, friendly, helpful, kind and made the stay very special. You will not be disappointed! It also is their house and more of a B&B than a hotel. Very nice home with lots of lovely rooms. I would stay there again and highly recommend it.

Hotel Maximillian was amazing! Stay there. Got a $50/night rate on hotels.com. Beautiful quiet views of "homey" areas in front of hotel. Lovely restaurants and bars nearby. Very comfy bed. Stay, stay stay!
