I realize this is the super busy season for most of Europe so they are i increasing their prices on their accomodations. Anyone aware of anything in Prague or a little outside of it that is clean, nice, safe and won't break the bank?? Is it realistic to find something for 2 people that would cost $75 to $100 a nite?

High season = summer = higher prices. I stayed at Hotel Central Prague which has double occupancy rooms for 75 euro a night (I checked on July dates - depending on your visit the price may vary). Close to everything, clean, not fancy, breakfast included (think Motel 6 but more Eastern European flavor). Check TripAdvisor for reviews and recommendations (you can sort by price range).

the other option is you can find rooms in people's house. if you arrive by train you will see a lot of old ladies at the train station with pictures of their homes. I found one 2 yrs ago just across street from the main train station in an old building. it was spacious 1 br with bathroom and living room like my own apartment. it's not in the most central location, but it's on the subway line so worked fine for me.
