Prague B&Bs

My wife and I have enjoyed staying at many western european b&bs and I'd possibly like to surprise her with a short stay in Prague.
I can't seem to find any comments re: b&bs in Prague so I am wondering if b&bs are as popular there or whether or not they provide the kind of standard we have often experienced in other parts of Europe?
If anyone can offer their experiences/comments for Prague b&bs I'd really appreciate it.
I would also consider other accomodation options so other recommendations would be welcome too.

Guest House Lida is a B & B-type option is Prague. It's a little outside the city center but very near public transportation. There are good restaurants in the neighborhood as well. The hosts are really helpful and very kind--we would absolutely stay there again!

The term "bed and breakfast" isn't used too often in Eastern Europe, so that may be why you couldn't find many comments. An equivalent term would be "pension" or "guesthouse".

I've stayed at Pension u Medvidku, which is only a few minutes walk from the Old Town Square:

Some of the rooms are pretty plain, but they do have a few decorated in a vaguely medieval fashion (with modern conveniences, of course). The Pension also has a lively, if smokey, beer hall-type restaurant on the ground floor. Curiously for a Rick Steve's recommendation, most of the patrons in the restaurant appeared to be locals when I was there.

Hi Tom, Thanks for the reply and your comments. Since posting my query I have been looking at the options for Prague and it has become evident that you are correct in suggesting 'pensions' and 'guesthouses' are preferable in search engines to b&bs.
I will look up the one you have mentioned and see how that compares with the other popular choice that has come to light in the last few hours.
Thanks again.

You might also search for zimmer freis and inns.
I suggest that as you research accommodations on the web that you examine each home page for a section called "Ratings", "Reviews", or "Comments".

You won't find many, but the ones which have them will help you know the evaluation of other tourists.

If you still need help when you arrive in Prague, go to the Tourist Information Office and ask about housing.
