Prague B & B / Pension Recommendations

This July I'll be in Prague for about four nights. I'm looking for something somewhat budget-oriented that has single rooms, but not a hostel. Any recommendations? Thanks so much for your advice!

(And if there's anything that you really enjoyed in or close to Prague that's off the beaten path I'd love to hear about that too. Thanks!)

A bit off the "beaten path" but close to public transportation--we really enjoyed our stay at Guest House Lida.

I stayed in a single room at Guest House Lida in Prague. It is a bit out of the city center, but is well connected by public transport. The single room still has a double bed and is a nice size room. They provide a breakfast each morning that is just wonderful. They also have drinks in a fridge you can grab and charge to your room bill (the prices are fair too). The hosts are really nice and will assist you in planning day trips, tickets, or just help you figure out how to get where you need/want to go. I stayed in hostels the majority of my trip to Europe, but I spent just a bit extra to stay at this guesthouse.

search on www.kayak.com for your prague hotels. There are tremendous hotel sales going on right now in Prague. You might think you can only afford a small pension or hostel when you could actually afford something much nicer in the city center.

we stayed at betlem club, walking distance to the charles bridge, wenceslas square, etc. serves breakfast in a gothic cellar. found this in rick steves' book. reasonable rates. www.betlemclub.cz.
enjoy your prague trip. it is magical.

from prague we had a car service that brought us to vienna via cesky krumlov. the driver waited for us for 5 hours in cesky while we explored the place. this driver was also recommended by rick.

We were in Prague in May, stayed at the Hotel Hastal Old Town. Nice little hotel, very good breakfast included in room rate. It's within walking distance of most major attractions. We took a day tour to Cesky Krumlov, and did the Prague dinner cruise.

For airport transfer to Old town, try Mike's Chauffeur Service. http://www.mike-chauffeur.cz/prague-transfer He provided excellent service at a reasonable price (550 CZK for 4 of us with luggage). Tell him the Canadians referred you.
