With a few days to stay in Prague and outlying areas, if anyone have any recommendations for places to stay (accomodations), that would be appreciated. (Ie, any other alternatives or comments in light of Rick Steve's guidebook, whether the same or different places recommended). Thanks.
We have stayed in the Hotel Julian, which Rick recommends and found it outstanding. Extremely professional and helpful staff with public transportation just around the corner.
We spent 5 nights at the Hotel Salvator last summer. It was great, and would return again.
we stayed at the hotel u klenotnika in 2005 for 5 nights and loved it..actually we ran into people at this hotel who were joining a rick steves tour in prague and the rick steve's tour coordinator suggested to them. heres the trip advisor reviews
I would also STRONGLY recommend that you go to Cesky Krumlov it is magical...we stayed at the Hotel Leonardo.
If you have more time .. we loved Olomouc Czech Republic
I have pictures and a few videos on our personal travel journal if you would like to view them

We stayed at the Bellagio Hotel in Prague in the Jewish Quarter. A nice boutique hotel; lovely breakfast; friendly staff; and great location. Found a great price online. Have a great time!

A day trip to Cesky Krumlov (or even an overnight) would be time well spent. There are companies that offer day trips by bus from Prague (lunch included).
If you do plan a day trip to Cesky Krumlov avoid Grayline of Prague day trips or any tours with them.
The owner of Grayline Prague is a scam artist and very greedy. Take anyone else's tours except that one. The owner try to force me to pay him twice for a tour (I had paid once and he tried to claim I never paid) and told the tour guide to leave me in Cesky Krumlov and not allow me to return with the tour. The tour guide refused to leave me there and let me return to Prague. The owner was trying to scam me and the tour guide even told me the owner is very greedy.
I took a day tour to Cesky Krumlov and it took so long to get there we weren't in the town long at all - couldn't even stop to go into any stores or anything just walked around and did get a guided tour. We also got a tour of the castle.
