We are looking for a place to stay in Prague in November. The trouble I seem to be having is a place that has accommodations for 2 adults and three children in the same room. Any suggestions?
That's a lot of people for those small European hotel rooms. How long are you staying there, long enough that renting an apartment/flat makes sense?
We are only planning on staying one or two nights.
This could be a bit of a challenge. Possibly you could rent a flat for 2 nights? Does Rick give any lodging recommendations for families in his Prague book? Or www.tripadvisor.com? I guess Plan B would be two rooms, more expensive, obviously. Good luck on this.
Try Guest House Lida listed in Rick's book or Castle Steps.
Try http://www.arcadiaresidence.com/?lang=en for top-notch accomodations - including apartments for 5 people. They are consistently rated in the top 5 hotels of Prague on Tripadvisor and they are also very affordable. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g274707-d612009-Reviews-Arcadia_Residence-Prague_Bohemia.html
I would definitely give them a try.
Carolyn,
Our son and daughter in law stayed at the Hotel u Bubnu ("Three Drums") in old town in Prague in October. They had a main room, where they stayed, plus an upstairs loft with two extra double beds. It's listed in Rick's Prague/CZ book. Great location and includes breakfast and free use of laptop and wireless.
I haven't stayed here yet, but have reservations in May for my family of 5. It's recommended in Rick's book - the Hotel Julian http://www.julian.cz/en/ they have a couple of large family suites.
Try residence retezova - in Rick's Eastern Europe book - we just got back and it is delightful - I think they have apartments big enough.

Carolyn, we stayed at an apartment in Prague and there were four of us in the group. There were actually 5 twin beds. It had an upstairs with 3 beds, a tub, shower and separate toilet and a washing machine. Downstairs had two more twin beds, kitchen table, TV, couch, chair, kitchen, and then a half bath. It was approximately 155 Euro/nt or 4400 Czech crowns. Here's the link, but they have many other apartments available to choose from: http://www.apartments.prague.st/apartment_old-town-c23.php
We walked to all the major sites. We never took public transportation. We only arranged transportation to and from the train station...
