Anybody have suggestions of places to stay in Prague?
It's a little out of the city center but we liked Guest House Lida
There is a tram nearby that takes you to the city center and good, inexpensive restaurants in the neighborhood. The hosts are extremely helpful and the rooms very comfortable.
We loved the Castle Steps. I can't stop recommending them after we stayed there this summer. It's in Mala Strana, close to lots of sights and only a 5-10 minute walk to Old Town Square. It's in the embassy area, so it's relatively quiet, and the staff is ridiculously helpful. Plus, there's a shared rooftop area where you can relax with some pretty impressive views of the city.
There's several threads on Prague, but Peter has a nice recent report with several responses.
My husband and I stayed in a hostel called the Prague Lion http://lion.prague-hostels.cz/. It's not what one thinks of when you hear "hostel." We had a top floor private room with bath and a balcony. The included continental breakfast was huge and they delivered it to our room. Super nice staff. Good location--walkable from Wenceslas Square and a couple of blocks from the "Dancing House" http://www.pragueexperience.com/places.asp?PlaceID=651
With breakfast, it cost about $80. We would definitely go there again.
