WE were interested in seeing the postal museum in Budapest However website says that it is closed due to moving. But the building was the reason we wanted to go. Has anyone been there recently? I think it isn't reopening until Oct. according to the website--But no indication what year that was written.

We were there at Christmas. The building is great and the museum it's self was d while distrubing very little of the old mansion interior so you get a Postal Museum combined with a view of the interior of a turn of the century mansion (last century of course). At the time there was an ongoing dispute about ownership and there was effort to displace the museum. I guess it was sucessful. That would be a shame. I will make a few phone calls and see if i can find out more. When are you traveling?

The very kind young lady that runs the website http://topbudapest.org/ confirms that it is close until October at which time it will re-open on Benczur street. That is a real shame.

Maybe they will open the old site as a separate historical site to tour the building.

I think it was sold for commercial development. The rest of the building has been in the process of renovation for several years. I believe that the only holdout tenant was the museum.
