Poland to Turkey via Croatia? Quite a trip! I met a young lady who traveled from Turkey to Budapest by air while her associate made the same trip by Train. It turned out to be a very taxing journey and not that enjoyable. Oh, and he was robbed along the way. I guess it could be good with a lot of stops along the way but I think you are going to find that there are some pretty long hauls and overnight trains involved. Don't confuse the quality of Western European overnight trains with Central European overnight trains. So the route is Krakow to Budapest (probably the most interesting part of the trip to figure out - high season Ryan Air flies this route), then to Zagreb to Belgrade to Sofia and finally Istanbul. I know Budapest and I know Sofia and they are both well worth a few days. Or you could take the northern route through Vienna and Ljubljana and then down to Zagreb. I don't get excited about Vienna but it is one of those "must visit" sorts of places. None of these are high speed lines and I am going to guess that each leg will take 6 to 12 hours. Here is a comfortable option that will only set you back about $4,500 per ticket. Happy Trails.

sounds like a very long trip with multiple breaks. take the train, it's more comfy with bath room.
