Has anyone stayed at this hotel in Athens? We are considering this hotel for our May trip to Athens. The location seems good and the hotel is being renovated currently.

We stayed there in '08 and liked it. The location is great. You can walk to the Plaka shops & restaurants, the Acropolis, and Syntagma Square. It's also easy walking distance from the Monastiraki metro station. The breakfast was very good. The rooftop view of the Acropolis is excellent, especially at night. The rooms were adequate. Our only complaint was that the bathrooms were rundown & badly in need of renovation, but it sounds like they're fixing that. I'd say go for it.

Stayed there in Sept for 3 days - loved it . The staff were excellent , the view amazing . Walked everywhere ! I would absolutely recommend it . We had been backpacking and the beds were amazing . Slept like a log !!

We stayed there for 3 nights in September as well. The hotel was in a great location for sightseeing as well as for catching the metro and buses. We easily found the place from the metro station. Our room was very clean with comfortable beds and they have a great breakfast. We just had a regular twin room (no acropolis view) and it seemed like the bathroom had recently been renovated. All the staff was very friendly and helpful. I would stay there again...

Hotel Attalos is a great hotel. Nice rooms, same breakfast as at most hotels but a great view of the Acropolis from the rooftop bar. Sitting on the patio, having a glass of wine and seeing the Parthenon lit up at night makes you love Greece and Athens.

Your comments are very much appreciated! Thank you. We are leaning towards Hotel Plaka and the offer of being picked up at airport via their shuttle is a real incentive.

Susan, Do check the prices for the shuttle. We heard wildly fluctuating rates at the airport. I also enjoyed the Attalos if the Plaka doesnt work out for you.
It is near the Forum and we walked back from the Parthenon. It is a block from the Monasteraki subway stop from which you can go anywhere, including the airport or Piraeus. Exceptionally nice people, not a great breakfast but a great bakery a block away and many restaurants 2-3 blocks as per RS.
