What's the fastest ferry from Piraeus to Santorini? I read some where here that some ferries take 9 hrs and others 4 hrs. I want the ferry that takes the shorter route. Please advise. Thank you
It's not the route so much as the type of ferry. The highspeed catamaran ferries are the fastest, taking as little as 4 hours. The 'regular' car ferries take about 8 hours, and some do take longer if they make more stops at more islands.
For Piraeus>Santorini you will want the Hellenic Seaways Highspeed Ferry or the FlyingCat, depending on what's available on your day of travel. Keep in mind that the FlyingCat is small and if the seas are rough the chances for seasickness increase exponentially. The highspeed car/passenger ferries are larger and less-likely to be uncomfortable. The 'regular' car/passenger ferries, such as the newer Blue Star fleet, are the largest and most stable way to travel by ferry.

You might also want to consider flying. Aegean do regular flights and it takes just under an hour.
You miss coming into the caldera by boat, though, which is a shame.

You might want to take the ferry overnight. This way you can save time and money. I did a few times from Athens to Crete. WE got to Crete early in the morning, which worked very well for us.
