Pavlov, Czech Republic - has anyone been, was it worth staying

I am using Rick's book to plan our Czech trip, but I usually use other sources to supplement and personal recommendations and am not finding much, outside of Prague and Cesky. No one I know has been. We are debating on Pavlov in the wine region that is recommended in the book. I am also concerned about the very modest accommodations offered in that town. We are debating going there or staying in Mikulov at Hotel Templ. Also debating staying in Telc or Slavonice? Has anyone been and could share their feedback? thanks

We were in Pavlov last June. Stayed in pension Florian. From our window we had a nice view of castle ruins on Palava hills right above the pension. Accommodation was OK. Hotel Iris is just a few minutes away by foot. It looks like a better choice for more demanding tourists. We did some hikes in Palava hills. Nice views of the village, vineyards and big lakes. Pavlov side of the lakes has a lot of algae. It's a little better on the other side where we swam. In Pavlov we just walked around wine cellar neighborhood and visited wine cellar U Venuse where I had nice talk with Mr.Brenko. Unfortunately he doesn't speak English but fortunately I speak Czech. He told me that his daughter is a model in L.A. His white wine was quite good. We also visited Telc, Slavonice, Mikulov. All nice small towns. You probably would go around by car. Close to Mikulov and Pavlov is chateau Lednice with a big park with canals and lakes around and also a minaret. Worth seeing. I would recommend to stay in hotel Hubertus in chateau Valtice because of it's location. However we didn't stay there overnight. In the chateau there is a wine cellar where they have one hundred samples of the best wines in the Czech Republic. Especially whites are surprisingly good. You can taste it there and then just stay in the hotel. Website of the wine cellar: www.salonvin.cz Should you have more questions I'll gladly try to answer them.
