Passport to Prague, Budapest, Vienna

I'm thinking of traveling in late April to the 3 cities. My passport expires in August. Seems like I don't need to renew my passport yet since it is within the Schengen agreement, i.e. passport accepted prior to 3 months for expiration. I just want to find out if anyone had this experience for Czech Rep., Hungary, and Austria ?

From the Czech embassy website: "The validity of USA, Canada and Mexico passports or travel document have to be at least 90 days from the date of the departure from the Czech Republic."

Hungary Embassy: " Valid passport (the validity of which has to exceed that of the requested visa by at least 3 months)"

Austria Embassy: "Valid passport; must be valid at least three (3) months beyond date of travel."

As long just you're visiting for a couple weeks or so, you're good to go!

Thank you, Michael. I will print out their websites, just in case.

The only person that will check your passport is your first point of entry into Europe. If you're flying into Prague, you'll be dealing with the Czechs. It is close enough that I suspect you will be given a little bit of questioning. If you show them your return ticket or itinerary, you should be ok but I strongly suggest you have it readily available.

I generally like getting my passport renewed about a year early. Some countries demand 6 months and a visa may require longer. Getting a 1 year visa is not very useful if your passport has only 4 months left.

I wouldn't risk going without renewing the passport. I didn't get my entry stamp when we arrived in Germany and had HUGE issues crossing the Hungarian boarder. HUGE! (we were on a train.)
