We are going to be crewing on a sailboat in Greece (the Cyclades) for two weeks. We will mainly be packing boating gear, but need a suggestions for going ashore. For guys, are shorts OK in the evening, or are pants preferred. For women, shorts, skirts or pants?
Unless you are planning to visit a church I would stay with shorts. There is no dress code in the Cyclades. Keep a pair of long pants handy in case it turns cool in the evening.
I agree with Al, beach resort areas are the exception to clothing norms, anything goes. Still, a nice pair of light slacks for him and a simple long skirt (my wife has a "peasant" type one that she can put over her bikini bottoms or shorts) for her would add a little touch of class to dining out.
Zip-off pants are very useful, and for the women, a pareo can be made into a long skirt when you want to be a bit festive. Dress is very casual in the islands, and most anything goes. Have a great time!
